What Do You Put In The Snack Machine
If you have a snack machine that you are trying to stock, then you are faced with a wide variety of choices and options about your inventory. Snack machines can hold many different kinds of snacks and it can be daunting to a first time vending entrepreneur on which to stock and how to choose the best variety so that they will have something that everyone will want. We’ll cover each type of snack, and give you some information that should help you decide which ones to put into your vending machines to make the most profit with your vending business.
First, let’s define the snacks machine. A snack vending machine is one that holds items that are small enough to be eaten in a few bites. For instance, potato chips, cookies and ice cream are all examples of snacks as are peanut butter and crackers and candy bars. This is a popular choice because many people stop to have a snack in the middle of the day, especially at work when they begin to feel tired and having snack vending machines that are placed correctly can result in a lot of profit around mid morning or late afternoon.
The first type of snack that we’ll discuss for your vending snack machine is the candy bar. Candy bars come in a huge variety of flavors and types. Most candy bars are chocolate and nearly all will fit into the slots provided in your snack machine. Choose a wide variety of candy bars. For instance, there is not reason to have Hershey’s chocolate bar, next to a Hershey’s Dark Chocolate bar. Instead, use the space to put something with peanut butter in it, or something with almonds or coconuts. You want to give people plenty of choices, because they will compromise when necessary.
Setting your prices is a tricky proposition, and we’ll go over a bit about that as we go over the next item: potato chips. Most people make the decision to get something out of the vending machine before they even approach the vending machines, and you can set chip prices fairly high and they will still buy. I wouldn’t go over a dollar (speaking from the 2010 market) but you can easily get .75 or a dollar out of a bag of chips, even though the same bag of chips may cost only a quarter retail at the local grocery store.
Then, you can offer a wide variety of other snacks for people. I recommend putting something healthy in, such as peanut butter and crackers or pretzels as not to turn away those who are trying to eat healthy. This is a great way to cater to everyone with your snack vending machine. One thing to keep in mind is that you should always have a soda machine next to a snack machine, because the saltiness of the chips may make them want a soda and if you can provide you will double the income that you get per customer in many cases.
