The Always Popular Coke Machine
One of the most common vending machines purchased is the antique coke machine. Coke machines are a true collectors’ item, many people begin collecting antique coke bottles and think that the best place to store them is in a coca cola machine, I couldn’t agree more. The coca cola company has been around a very long time, and as long as it’s been around there have been people collecting the bottles, mostly for their signature shape. Thus the best place to store your collection is in the original machine. A coke vending machine is the crown jewel of a true coca cola collector’s collection.
Coke vending machines have grown more popular in recent times, which shows good growth for the coca cola company, finally recovering from a sales slump due to bad publicity. The release of new coke was a bad idea that eventually became a great marketing asset as it brought around the re-release of coca cola classic. Another hit to the company’s sales was a run of bad publicity when rumors of coca cola’s ability to dissolve teeth began circulating. Although eventually found to be true, the company tried to quash rumors by a marketing ploy that focused on the perfectly white teeth of the actors shown drinking the soft drink in commercials.
One of coca cola’s more recent attempts to boost sales was to add new flavors to the line-up. One of the new flavors added were vanilla coke, which was just coca cola classic with vanilla artificial flavor, eventually this also led to diet vanilla coke, the same artificial vanilla flavor in the sugar free version of the signature cola. Another flavor addition was coke with lemon, simply put, it was just that: coca cola with lemon flavor added. This also led to a diet version, which was preferred by diet drinkers, who believed diet vanilla coke to be too sweet as compared to the lemon flavor.
Another revitalization of the coke brand came with coke zero, a zero calorie version of coca cola aimed at a calorie counting America. This remake claimed to taste just the same as coca cola classic but with zero calories. The marketing ploys and advertisements became ridiculous including a television commercial showing what appeared to be coca cola executives attempting to sue coke zero for imitating its flavor. Though it does indeed have zero calories, many people believe that coke zero is nothing more than more than diet coke in a different label.
All in all, the coca cola brand has gone through many changes. The most lasting, however, was a move to reshape the bottles into a more retro look going from mildly distended cylinders to the flanged look of old. Most likely this stemmed from the popularity of the old glass bottles, and all the collectors who prefer that look. One thing that coca cola has never stopped marketing is its special edition Christmas bottles. Reportedly even going so far as to try to patent Santa Claus, in an attempt to corner the market on Christmas.
